Perinatal and Infant Health

About ALKA

Too often, services treat feeding, sleep, mental health and partner relationships as separate issues. In reality, they’re deeply connected — one affects the other. Families can easily get stuck in a cycle of exhaustion and mixed advice, without anyone looking at the whole picture.

That’s why I created ALKA — a space where feeding, sleep, and emotional wellbeing are understood together.

With a background spanning Paediatrics, Child and Family Health, and Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, I bring both clinical expertise and compassion. My qualifications include a Master of Clinical Nursing, a Postgraduate Diploma of Counselling, and Lactation Consultant Certification, along with NDC practitioner training — so you can feel supported with evidence-based care and empathy

Why your baby wakes at night and What you can do about it

If your baby is waking up a lot during the night, you're not alone, and you're not doing anything wrong. In fact, waking every 2–3 hours is completely normal for babies in their first year. Over half of toddlers still wake during the night well into their second year. Knowing what’s normal, and when to ask for support, can make a huge difference in how you experience this stage.

When Everyone Has an Opinion on Your Baby: Navigating Unwanted Advice Without Losing Your Mind

Becoming a parent is one of the most profound and life-changing experiences you’ll ever have, and unfortunately, it’s also one of the most opinion-saturated. From the moment your baby arrives, it seems that everyone has something to say about how you should raise them.

The Magic of Breastmilk: More Than Nutrition

Breastmilk is often described as liquid gold, and with good reason. It’s not just food. It’s a living, responsive substance that nourishes a baby’s body, supports brain development, and builds emotional connection in ways that extend far beyond feeding.
